Do You Need Business Training?- By: Simon Johnnson

Description : Doing your Own Thing

A lot of individuals are looking to start their own business instead of continuing with the monotonous 9 to 5 jobs. Working for someone is way different from working for yourself. If you have your own enterprise you can make the calls regarding managerial decisions. You don’t have to worry about answering to anyone else for the decisions you take or the way you work. The freedom of having your own thing is more than what one can hope for in any corporate service.

The need for Technical Knowledge

However, to start one’s own business there are many things to take care of in the beginning. The most important aspect of running a business is the perfect blend of knowledge and experience. Although it may not be mandatory to have a business degree to run a concern, it is always more helpful if you do have one. That way you can apply your academic knowledge in your work and learn from the experience.

The ideal situation for running one’s own business is to have the time and resources to gain a business degree. However, most of the time when people break away from corporate life and start their own business they don’t have the luxury of investing in themselves by enrolling with schools to earn a degree in management. In such cases the best thing to do is to take crash courses or niche specific classes.

Delegation of Functions

Training to be an expert in Human Resources or learning to operate basic accounting software can take you a long way into looking after your own business. You can always hire professional help to guide you through the details. In fact a lot of times you may have the technical knowledge to manage every aspect of a business but it is not practically possible. Micro management is time consuming and less profitable. You have to delegate duties to others to make sure that things run smoothly.

Training and Funding

If you want to train your workers in special areas of business then you should have resources that will fund this training. Otherwise it will become a profit hindering process for you. Also try to take assistance from friends and family who have prior experience in managing a business. You may even involve some of them in your own endeavor and share the profits with them. That way the profit stays within the family!

Training people to manage small and medium scale business is the top priority for most companies nowadays. Not only is it necessary to impart technical knowledge to such candidates, but it should be applied in the working of the enterprise to benefit from it.

For this the government should come forward with a financing plan that can be easily availed by companies and candidates enrolling themselves with such courses. The repayment plan should also be reasonable, keeping in mind that absorbing the knowledge, applying it in work and being paid for it is a step by step process which will take time.
